Meneghetti Wine Hotel & Winery

Meneghetti

Meneghetti Wine Hotel & Winery Review

Meneghetti Wine Hotel & Winery located in northern Croatia’s Istria region, offers country-glam interiors, multiple pools, an amazing spa, and delicious dining to travelers who want to explore this culture-rich area! With it’s inland location and a quick drive to the beach, Meneghetti is the perfect spot to explore Istria’s culinary delights (think wine and olive oil tastings, truffle hunting and more) as well as the cultural monuments and UNESCO World Heritage sites of the area. Spend your days hiking, biking, and tasting your way through the area before retiring to enjoy the amenities at the resort.

The main building the hotel is a 19th-century stone house that used to be a country house owned by Mr. Meneghetti (no one knows his first name). He planted the property’s first vineyard and olive grove and started an animal farm that supplied produce to nearby military bastions. During Yugoslavian times, the estate was abandoned, but in 2000 the original stone house was lovingly restored into a small four-room boutique hotel. Through the restoration process the estate was brought back to life with new vineyards and olive trees and new winery facilities that cater to the needs of modern life, but fully respect the tradition and heritage of the historical property. Through their dedication to marrying the past with the future, the hotel has continued to grow as new rooms, suites and residences have been added in keeping with the style of the original house. The estate’s olive oil and wine brand as well as the on-site restaurant have also grown in stature over the years with numerous awards being given to them over the years.

Made from white Istrian stone on the exterior- and boasting wooden beams, hardwood floors and antique furniture on the interior- this is a dreamy countryside escape. With accommodation options ranging from traditional rooms to multibedroom residences (some with their own private pools), there is a room option for every traveler. Each year Meneghetti produces 1,500 litres of extra virgin olive oil, using olives from its own olive groves.

Olive oil is produced in 4 different varieties:

  • Buža (Izbor)
  • Leccino
  • Rosulja (Rosignola)
  • Bjelica (Bianchera)

Italian Flos Olei, the most prestigious international olive oil guide, every year includes Meneghetti among fifty highest quality producers of olive oil in the world and the world’s leading olive oil guide “L’extravergine” in 2007 declared Meneghetti’s ‘Izbor’ as the world’s best olive oil in one of the most challenging olive oil categories – “intensely fruity” aroma. Unique colour and pungent taste of Istria’s and Meneghetti’s olive oils are the result of the fact that Istria is among the coolest regions where olive trees grow in the entire world – and the best olive oil region in the world according to Flos Olei.

IKADOR LUXURY BOUTIQUE HOTEL & SPA Review

Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel Spa is a 16 room boutique hotel located in the town of Ika along the iconic coastline of the Opatija Riviera. This area has a unique microclimate; mild winters, humid air, and seawater with a high saline content which made it a healing retreat and a beloved resort of the European Aristocracy since the 19th century. Even today, the heritage of this unique area is alive and well in the remarkable architecture present along the coast.

Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel Spa opened with the plan to create a name for itself as the most luxurious hotel in Croatia. As one of only 7 Riva Lounge locations in the world (other locations include Monaco and Venice), Ikador is the only hotel property that offers Riva Yacht brand concepts – the Riva Lounge pool & bar area and the Riva Privée chef’s table area, designed and furnished by Riva Yacht brand. To do this, they’ve used timeless materials in new and fresh ways and have created architectural details inspired by the historical villas of the area. With infinite sea view of Kvarner Bay visible from every corner of the hotel and luxurious finishes, carefully chosen materials, and bespoke furniture filling out the interior, Ikador gives guests an exquisite and sophisticated vibe.

With its secluded location away from Hvar Town, Maslina offers a peaceful home base to explore the island. Take one of the handcrafted wooden bikes out for a ride along the seaside or make the 10-minute ride into Stari Grad to explore the narrow, cobbled lanes. If guests prefer to venture further afield, the lavender fields of Velo Grablje village are easily reached by car, and the waters surrounding Hvar offer many opportunities to explore secret coves and rugged islands of the Pakleni archipelago or even the larger islands of Brač and Vis.

Spa

If guests are more inclined to stay close to home, there’s no shortage of amenities on property to satisfy you! Spend an indulgent day being pampered in the Pharomatique Spa – the seafront location surrounded by native pines and olive trees is the height of relaxation. Many of the products are made from herbs and botanicals grown on the property.

For a more profound wellness experience, take part in some of the classes available on site like pilates, ashtanga yoga and reiki sessions. If stretching out on a beach towel instead of a yoga mat is more your style, head down to the private beach club or the infinity pool to relax next to the water and enjoy a selection of delicious snacks and juices made from local ingredients. End your day at A-Bay Beach Bar and enjoy craft cocktails as the sun sets.

The property also has a family pool and an outstanding kid’s club with fun activities like a climbing wall and pizza-making classes for the younger guests!

Culinary

As a Relais & Chateaux member, it stands to reason that the food and beverage options at Maslina are delicious. Order tasty bites all day at A-Bay Beach Bar, or venture to The Restaurant for a Dalmatian mainstay, the gregada fish stew, a tribute to Croatia’s coast. The lemon-soufflé pancake with orange-honey butter and whipped ricotta is a breakfast standout.

Sustainable Corporate Travel ESG Workshops

Sustainable Corporate Travel: going beyond green

With destination retreats and board meetings resuming in person, requests for our Sustainable Corporate Travel Concierge program have surged. This increased demand reflects the overall concept that post-COVID resumption of travel is the perfect time to incorporate long-term sustainable corporate travel goals. Our Sustainable Corporate Travel Concierges have already seen success with several small and mid-sized companies in customizing meetings while creating net-zero emissions and supporting eco-conscious properties.

As our Sustainable Corporate Travel Program expands, we have been looking for ways to create a more robust offering to our clients. Research shows that incentive travel and destination meetings are fundamental corporate culture builders, so designing sustainable trips sets an example for employees that sustainability is a commitment for your company, not just lip service. However, if concern for the environment is the only example you set, your company is missing an important opportunity. True commitment to sustainability follows ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria, so alignment of travel arrangements to all three pillars provides a more comprehensive approach to corporate sustainability. So while eco-friendly practices should always be incorporated, our travel agency believes it is important to also consider social and governance criteria in your meeting plans.

Announcing our partnership with AlignESG

River Oaks Travel can include sustainable social and governance opportunities when traveling, but we are excited to announce an additional service to our corporate clients: ESG workshops through an exclusive partnership with AlignESG. AlignESG will provide snapshots and workshops for your executive retreat or board meeting, and these sessions can be provided seamlessly through your Sustainable Corporate Concierge.

Besides adding ESG education to your retreat, AlignESG offers your company opportunities to identify existing ESG synergies and gaps, and generate actions to attain the level of sustainability ideal for your company. Our partnership is the first of its kind in the luxury corporate sustainable travel scope, and we are very excited to provide a more robust approach to ESG in our corporate travel arrangements.

Incorporate ESG Workshops

We believe that infusing ESG education on a trip can help move the needle of sustainable corporate evolution, and now our executive and board retreats can include sessions on sustainability and ESG (environment, social, governance). Thirty Minute Snapshots can provide your team with a general overview of a particular subject of interest. One Hour Workshops provide an interactive session that can be customized specifically for your company.

Any sustainability or ESG topic can be covered. Some of the most popular include:

  • Understanding ESG from a Corporate Perspective
  • Diversity and Inclusion (D&I)
  • Human Capital Management (HCM)
  • Disclosure Materiality
  • Standards and Frameworks Overview

We are excited to be able to offer this unique service to our corporate clients, and look forward to further expanding our Sustainable Corporate Travel Concierge program to be one of the most robust in the industry.

Looking for more information on Sustainable Corporate Travel?

Our Sustainable Corporate Travel Concierge program is designed to handle planning for your next meeting, corporate retreat, or incentive in a sustainable manner. Let a concierge plan your carbon-neutral event.

CHABLÉ YUCATÁN

CHABLÉ YUCATÁN Review

CHABLÉ YUCATÁN – Located 27 miles from Merida in the tiny city of Chochola, this property dates from the early to mid-1800s – originating as an industrial sisal factory. The word “sisal” refers to the translation of henequen, an agave plant from which its interior fiber creates different products such as sacks, bags, and ropes. With the advent of synthetic fiber, it necessarily evolved to become a hacienda but was later abandoned. Rediscovered and re-visioned by current ownership, this magnificent estate was reborn five years ago after a sixteen-year transformation from a sprawling hacienda to an immaculately manicured and well-appointed, Mayan-themed jungle-clad resort.

There is no carbon shaming here – as CHABLÉ YUCATÁN is diligently accomplishing its green initiative by completing a massive solar panel installation to power resort facilities and support the local community power needs. The resort footprint is now home to abundant gardens, biking paths, a native bee sanctuary, a private cenote, facilities for golf and tennis, a fabulous spa, modern meeting and conference facilities, and quite possibly the world’s oldest and most monstrous tequila collection. All of these appointments, along with endless walkable Mayan surprise discoveries and the exceptional staff and facilities, give us complete confidence that CHABLÉ YUCATÁN will be an excellent place for our client’s vacation in a stunning, relaxed atmosphere.

Chable Yucatan Spa

Service & Spa

Service is seamless, and housekeeping is excellent (two clothing items are pressed daily per guest at no extra cost) but the real star here is the wellness program that the property is so well known for. There are complimentary fitness classes and various activities(biking, yoga, Bootcamp, Pilates, meditation, wellness golf) offered each day but, The Destination Spa at Chablé is the hotel’s ‘crown jewel’. This innovative Spa is the first to be built around a ‘cenote’ – natural cave formations, which is considered to be sacred by the Mayans. The Spa consists of 12 modern treatment rooms that spread across an ancient cenote and a steam room, a sauna, a salt cabin, and a floatarium. In addition, the facility offers guests warm and cold whirlpools, a water circuit with varying types of shower pressures, a relaxation area, and a pool. In addition to the spa treatments, three sweat lodges are used for temazcal ceremonies carried by visiting shamans.

Culinary

The renowned Chef Jorge Vallejo designed Chablé’s gastronomic offer, awarded as the Best Chef in Mexico, whose restaurant Quintonil occupies the 11th place in the list “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” by S. Pellegrino. Under his leadership, Luis Ronzón, Chable’s Executive Chef, offers a unique dining experience in three restaurants:

Travel survey results

When will you feel comfortable taking your next trip?

We know that everyone’s comfort levels vary when it comes to travel, even during normal non-pandemic times! We knew that many of our clients had already traveled (we helped after all) but were excited to see how many of you are interested in travel post-vaccination. As COVID-19 vaccines are becoming more readily available, we hope that means many more trips will be planned soon! Because we all need a vacation after 2020, right?

When are you likely to travel again?

Part of our role as travel advisors is to help manage expectations about availability, and based on the above graph (and recent trip research), we anticipate many destinations will start booking up soon. 65% percent of respondents said that they’ve either traveled already or intend to travel by the end of the summer, with only 4% planning to wait until 2022. So if you’re planning to take your own trips over the summer, we recommend that you start the planning now!

When it comes time to travel again, what style of travel will appeal to you?

After a year of sticking close to home, many of you are ready to venture further abroad for your next trip! When it comes to future vacations, we as travel advisors want to make sure that we are continuing to plan the safest travels possible for you. So we were excited to see that the overwhelming majority of you showed interest in customized private itineraries, which allows us the most flexibility in creating safe experiences that still maximize your time in a destination (think private guides, transportation, touring, and more).

Would you be willing to travel if a negative COVID test is required to enter?

With most international destinations requiring a negative COVID test to enter, it’s reassuring to see so many of you were comfortable with taking a test prior to travel. However, we completely understand those of you that feel unsure about this requirement! Our team has traveled extensively during the pandemic and can walk you through the process so you know what to expect. Alternatively, we can help you find a great vacation destination here in the United States without testing requirements.

So, were our travel survey results what you expected to see? While some results met our expectations, others were a welcome surprise! Regardless of how you answered, we look forward to helping you explore the world whenever you feel comfortable again. Interested in getting started? Contact our Houston travel agency today!
